THIS PRACTICE IS COMMITTED TO ALWAYS PROTECT THE INTERESTS AND PERSONAL INFORMATION OF IT’S PATIENTS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROTECTION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION ACT (“POPIA”)

  

We commit to protect the information we personally collect from our patients and state that it will only be used for the purpose intended (chiropractic treatment).  Under no circumstances will this information be made available to any organizations or third parties.

The information collected directly from the patient, is to solely assist the patient with his / her medical complaints, and to generate an invoice for them to claim from their medical aid or SARS.

The medical information will only be shared with other healthcare practitioners in order to further a patient’s treatment, thereby being in the patient’s best interest.  The patient’s permission will be obtained before contacting other healthcare practitioners.

All our computer-based information is protected by a security password.

​

The cell phone used for whatsapp messaging is also protected with a password.

​

The paper-based files are filed away in a metal filing cabinet, to which there is no unauthorised access.  Files are not displayed in the office where other office visitors may have visual access.

​

The staff adopt a code of ethics whereby all our patient’s ailments, personal and medical details are not shared or discussed with anybody outside the practice.

​

Old and unused patient files are destroyed by shredding.  This is done off premises by a registered company who provide a certificate of destruction.

​

Old and unused diaries containing names and telephone numbers are also destroyed by shredding.

​

We communicate with our patients via telephone, email, sms or whatsapp.  We also send reminders for current appointments and for quarterly follow up appointments, via sms or whatsapp messages.
